FAQs

The Via Thrift Store’s number one priority is to ensure the health and safety of our customers, employees and community. Therefore, we will be following federal, state and local guidelines in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes taking a variety of preventive measures, such as increased cleaning and sanitizing, enforcing the use of masks, installing a Plexiglass shield at the checkout counter and supporting social distancing by modifying shopping and donating procedures.

Please review the following FAQs so that you may enjoy your Via Thrift Store shopping experience while staying safe:

Am I required to wear a mask?

Yes, all customers are required to wear a mask upon entering and occupying the building. Exceptions include those with medical conditions that prevent them from safely wearing a mask and children under 2 years old.

Do I have to wear gloves?

No, you do not have to wear gloves but can if you want. Please use a new pair each time you shop and dispose of them properly.

How can I socially distance while inside of the store?

Our entrance and exit will be separate. Please enter through our regular front door and exit through the pink doors in the next room. We have placed markers to ensure that customers are 6 feet apart in lines leading to the checkout counter.  We have also installed a plexiglass shield at the checkout counter between customers and the employee working the cash register. We ask that in the rest of the store you always maintain a 6-foot distance from other shoppers and be mindful of others when traveling up and down our staircase.

What is the procedure to donate items?

We have instituted contactless donation procedures. If you need assistance unloading your donation, you may call ahead to make a donation appointment at 610-866-6777 so that we are ready for you when you arrive. Alternatively, you can simply drive to the rear of our building on Stanley Ave. and place your hardline donations in our beige shed and your clothing donation in our blue shed.   Tax receipts can be downloaded from our website at http://www.viathrift.org.

How are you keeping the donations and store sanitary?

To ensure goods and textiles are safe for sale, we are handling donations with personal protective equipment, using sanitizing supplies and setting aside donations for a period to protect the health and safety of employees and the public.

We will be cleaning and sanitizing high-touch surfaces before opening and closing and throughout the day. Shopping baskets will be disinfected before they are placed for use. Please note that our fitting rooms will not be open for use. We will not accept returns or exchanges of any kind.

If I am feeling sick, can I still visit the Via Thrift Store?

If you are feeling sick, the CDC recommends that you stay isolated at home and leave your house only to get medical care. In addition, the CDC advises people who are sick to avoid public places to reduce the risk of spreading the illness.
